We’re proud to announce that we’re collaborating with Obol Labs to research and test distributed validator technology (DVT). Obol Labs is a research and software development team that is building Proof-of-Stake infrastructure technologies for Ethereum. It is currently focused on developing the Obol Network, an ecosystem for trust-minimized staking that enables people to create, test, run, and coordinate distributed validators. Obol is funded by reputable investors such as Pantera Capital, Archetype, Nascent, Placeholder, and BlockTower.
The advantage of distributed Ethereum validators is that they can be run by more than one node — as a result, a group or cluster of nodes can act together as a unit. This eliminates the risk of having a single point of failure that could potentially lead to strict offline and slashing penalties enforced by the Ethereum protocol’s consensus mechanism.
InfStones will assist Obol by conducting tests to assess their technology for the network’s V1 launch. We believe that DVT is crucial for the decentralization of Ethereum staking. InfStones will be considering adding DVT to our services to provide more options to our customers.
